If you were reading the sMeet blog a few months back, you would have seen a bizzare posts about different world records involving foods of all kinds (including a testacle cooking contest!).

However, this may all be changed for the worse…

Every year, in Gloucestershire, there is something called a ‘Cheese Rolling Contest’. Now, this is not what you might think, because the aim of this game is to run (or tumble) down a very steep hill, trying to catch a small cheese roll! This sounds like a lot of fun, but, of course, health and safety have had something to say, and the Cheese Rolling Contest has had to be cancelled this year.

It all came about because of the competition’s increasing popularity. So many people have been taking part in the recent years that there has simply been too many people running down a large hill at one time. The health and safety guys have had to step in in case of any injuries.

My concerns are, that there are lots of contests like this all around the world, and if they all grow popular… they’ll all have to be cancelled! What a tradgedy – seriously!

Anyone seeing double?

Continuously this year the fashion twins from Toronto Canada, Dan & Dean Caten have been holding their catwalk shows across the world, they have owned many fashion labels low end leisure labels but DSquared2 is by far the biggest high end label they have owned, their designs have been worn by Britney Spears Madonna Justin Timberlake, they have appeared in BEP music video “I’ve got a feeling”, so we could say these twins have done well this year and the previous year. Dean and Dan also received a star on “Canada’s walk of fame” in September last year they also currently co hosts and judges of “Launch my line” and a competition reality show on Bravo which started airing in December 2 2009.

Recently in the Autumn/winter 2010 menswear show, German rock star Bill Kaulitz appeared on the catwalk, descending in a caged elevator followed by a runway walk; he opened and closed the catwalk show. You can now see the Kaulitz twins wearing various clothes designed by the Caten twins. Twins and twins a like right?

DSquared2 flagship shops were opened in Milan and are now opening in many countries across the world. Get out there guys!

Been there, done that! The magazine, HELLO says that when Sharon Osbourne was asked if she wanted to be part of the US X-Factor, She answered ‘Been there, Done That!’ So, Sharon isn’t interested, Come on Cowell, Step up!

Skulduggery Pleasant book review

In the world of books we have today, many famous names frequent the bestseller lists. People like J.K Rowling, Stephenie Meyer and Dan Brown are commonly heard in them; however a name that many people may not have heard of is Derek Landy. Derek Landy is an Irish author who lives in Dublin, and the book he is best known for is named Skulduggery Pleasant.

Skulduggery Pleasant is the first in a long line of books about a Skeleton Detective and his side-kick, Stephanie Edgley, who go around fighting evil, saving the world and generally being heroes. With a long line of enemies and several powerful allies, Skulduggery and Stephanie are never bored.

In the book, Stephanie’s uncle, Gordon Edgley, has suddenly died. Classed as natural causes, nothing is suspected of his death. However, after the funeral, Stephanie spends a night in Gordon’s home, left to her in his will. Halfway through the night, she is attacked by a mysterious man and is just saved by Skulduggery. The first in a long line of shocks and thrills, Stephanie is introduced into a world of magic that had lied just beneath her feet for all her life.

The book is filled with thrills. A fantastic fantasy book set in the modern day world; it is a book perfect for those who loved the Harry Potter books. Filled to the brim with magic and monsters, I would recommend this book and it’s sequels to everybody. Derek is currently writing the forth book set to be released soon and he may write more. Check in at your local book shop to see if they this book in stock.

Whether it means spring cleaning or spring move, sMeet released some room related items this week! Maybe it’s time for a change of space? We now have a room with a rather large garden available … just beware of moles! Moreover, with all that room, you’ll have space for a new jacuzzi and with the warmer nights, you can use it in the evenings without getting a head cold!

Britney v. Ke$ha:

Ke$ha definitely won round one! First of all , Ke$ha said in an interview ” I don’t think that’s fair at all for people who are going to see the show. If you are going to be a singer, you should sing. If you are going to be a dancer, you should dance.” What’s with all the Britney hate?! It ain’t the first time home girl has been accused of lip syncing live. I would too if I had to do all that dancing. Is Britney on the way out?! I personally think so… it’s pretty bad when your ex also says he hates your music… and he’s the guy who took you to McDonald’s on Valentines. talk about a McJoke!Hope he allowed you to super size Brit…

After being stalked for awhile, the young mister Kaulitz finally had enough after an obsessed fan put out a cigarette on his windshield. The alleged punch was caught on CCTV and Kaulitz was fined 1,000€. Maybe a bloody nose will be the new fan girl accessory… but we hope not!

Captain Slaphead ( Adult Op) , he is a very good operator and if you need help he is one of the people you can talk to. He is on everyday, he is very usefull and I would consider talking to him.

I recently discovered something in the news, and i thought i’d share it with all of you.

This true tale comes from Egypt, and it took me by surprise…

A granite head of one of the most famous Egyptian pharoahs (Amenhotep III) has been dug up from the ground, and people say it’s the best preserved example ever! Amenhotep reigned about 700 years ago, and he was actually Tutankhamun’s grandfather!

The obvious – It’s getting warmer! This winter has been horrible, It’s been colder than cold and rainy, and very dark. But if you are one of those delicate people that can’t stand the cold, then you might have noticed it is getting a bit warmer, spring is coming! Every morning is getting a bit lighter and warmer. There is still some snow in Scotland, but it’s always cold there. So, bring on summer! Warm evenings, light evenings and lighter mornings, warm days. No more coats, scarfs and gloves and whatever else you guys where when it’s cold! And then the best thing of summer is the summer holidays! Are you going On Holiday this year? Well summer isn’t far away but spring must  come first..

The Brit awards
Despite the pottery outfit, Lady Gaga wowed the audience with her rendition of ”Telephone/dance in the dark” as a dedication to the late Alexander McQueen. Everyone was brilliant at the Brit awards , it was definately something to talk about.

Have you heard about Cheryl and Ashley Cole? The breakup is official. When she landed at Heathrow airport she was seen with no wedding ring on. She flew back to England to find a empty house. She is now having a divorce , and wants the tattoo on her neck saying ”Mrs C” removed. Cheryl said that she will pay anything to get her maiden name back!

If you haven’t already heard about the new amazing 3D movie ”Alice in wonderland” then here are the main facts: It comes out March 5th in the all the cinemas apart from Odeon.
Also , the new Twilight is suppose to be released in July! So many people love Twilight that much they have made a early release date.

Apparently they have no idea’s for a wedding yet. Karoke , every thursday! Thursday was a good night , lil_miss_naughty sang Hero by Mariah Carey , and amazed the crowd but it was a duet by Hannah and Kelly that stole the show and took top prize! Jestah has now become a official guide and has been doing very well. Hi sMeeters! As you will probably know, it’s now school time for most of you. I hope you all had a great week off last week. How did valentines day treat you? Did you give up anything for lent? We’d like to hear from you – post in the comments section to have your say.

Most of us will probably be quite disappointed that the February half term is over – but don’t dispair because I think I may have found a way for you to gain extra sMeet time!
